Wilco, Illinois’ sensational alternative country and experimental rock artists are bringing their signature sounds to the Riverside Theater!

The band was formed in Chicago in 1994 by the remaining members (co-singer Jeff Tweedy, bassist John Stirratt, drummer Ken Coomer, multi-instrumentalist Max Johnston, and guitarist Brian Henneman) of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo after the lead singer (Jay Farrar) decided to leave. They named themselves after the short form of ‘Will Comply’ used in the military and commercial aviation radio communications. The band’s had many line-up changes over the years and it currently consists of Jeff (lead vocals, rhythm, acoustic and lead guitars, bass, harmonica), John (bass, backing vocals), Glenn Kotche (drums, percussion), Mikael Jorgensen (keyboards, synthesizers, effects, piano, organ), Nels Cline (lead guitar, loops, lap steel), and Pat Sansone (keyboards, rhythm and lead guitars, backing vocals, synthesizers, maracas, tambourine). They’ve had a stellar career with 10 studio albums, 5 extended plays (EPs), 3 live albums, 12 singles, 4 music videos, and they’ve sold over 2 million records worldwide. They’ve also won 2 Grammy Awards (for Best Alternative Music Album and Best Recording Package) and were nominated for 5 more across the categories Best Contemporary Folk Album, Best Rock Album, and Best Americana Album.
