Prince Royce (birth name Geoffrey Royce Rojas) was born in the Bronx in 1989 and is a singer, songwriter, and actor. He began his musical journey by participating in his elementary school choir and competing in talent shows. In his teenage years he started to experiment with music, write poetry, and landed a record deal when he was 19. His musical style is best described as a blend of Latin pop, bachata (a genre of Latin American music that originated in the Dominican Republic in the first half of the 20th century with European, Indigenous and African musical elements), and contemporary R&B (a genre that combines elements of rhythm and blues, soul, funk, pop, hip hop, and dance). He went on to have a stellar career with 5 studio albums, 1 compilation album, 16 singles, and 20 music videos. He’s been the opening act for Enrique Iglesias, Ariana Grande, and he’s collaborated with Shakira, Chris Brown, and many other renowned artists. He’s received many accolades including 19 Billboard Latin Music Awards, 3 ASCAP Awards, BMI Awards, 18 Premios Juventud Awards, 17 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, and 2 Soberano Awards. He’s also been nominated for 9 Latin Grammy Awards and 10 Billboard Music Awards.
