Elvis Costello (birth name Declan Patrick MacManus) was born in Paddington (London) in 1954 and is a musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer. He began his career in the early 70s by performing in London’s pub rock scene and went on to become one of the pioneers of the mid-to-late 70’s British punk and new wave movement. His 1977 debut album (My Aim Is True) was critically acclaimed, achieved Platinum status in the US, and he formed the Attractions (his backing band) soon after it was recorded. He’s received numerous accolades including a Grammy Award and 2 Brit Award nominations for Best British Male Singer. In 2003, Costello and the Attractions were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and a year later, Rolling Stone magazine ranked Costello number 80 on its list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 1996, the attractions disbanded and Elvis went on to form a new backing band called the Impostors. He’s also co-written many songs for movie soundtracks such as ‘God Give Me Strength’ for the 1996 film Grace of My Heart and ‘The Scarlet Tide’ for the 2003 film Cold Mountain
